# LONELINESS

When you search for images of “loneliness,” most of what you find shows a person sitting alone with slumped shoulders, head bowed, in a bleak atmosphere. Loneliness is often labeled as the emotion of those who have failed to adapt to society, and it’s frequently linked with negative phenomena like depression or suicide. However, in my life, loneliness hasn’t been just a depressing or sad emotion. Rather, loneliness was a warm emotion that actually kept me alive.

In my "The Loner" series, I’ve captured the various facets of loneliness that I’ve personally experienced. I don’t intend to reject existing images or definitions of loneliness. Rather, I simply wanted to interpret, understand, and convey this emotion from different perspectives.

“But by the grace of God I am what I am…”  Corinthians 15:10

# Emotion

The sky shows us a different appearance every moment, depending on the temperature, weather, and time of the day. Even though it's the same blue sky, if you look closely, one day it might appear as light sky blue, while on another day, it might look like a deeper shade of blue. In truth, the sky we see is never the same twice. And I believe that human emotions are much like the sky we see. Each day, depending on what we experience, who we meet, or even what we eat, we feel a range of emotions. These emotions are often neatly categorized according to their dictionary definitions. However, if we observe and understand these emotions more deeply, we realize just how many different facets exist within a single emotion.

For instance, there are countless love stories in this world, all under the theme of “love.” Yet, the feeling of love varies each time depending on the characters and circumstances of the story. For some, love may be passionate and full of energy, while for others, it could be heartbreakingly cold and brutal. There is love that is pure, but also love that is tainted by desire. Just as we can't fully define the emotion of love in a single way, human emotions are complex and diverse.

I am drawn to the intricacies and variety of these emotions, and through my art, I have focused on visualizing these intangible feelings. In doing so, I avoided abstract or impressionistic expressions, striving instead to capture and convey the story and atmosphere that embody the emotion I want to deliver.
